British Summer Time 2014 - July 4th
Motörhead founder and frontman Lemmy Kilmister has died from an aggressive form of cancer at the age of 70. The metal legend had been diagnosed with cancer just three days ago, with his fellow band members announcing his passing yesterday morning.

First emerging in the band Hawkwind, Lemmy created an entirely new sound of metal with the explosive emergence of Motörhead in the mid-1970’s. Known for his trademark gravelly voice and blistering bass playing, the band produced 22 studio albums throughout an incredible career. Motörhead, and Lemmy more specifically, became a household name with tracks such as Ace of Spades and pioneered the speed metal genre alongside bands like Judas Priest and Iron Maiden.

With tributes pouring in from the likes of Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne and countless other figures within the music industry, Lemmy’s sudden passing is all the more striking and tragic as it is abundantly clear that the industry and fans alike have lost one of the greats.
