Clik here to view. After the unsanctimonious departure of Tom DeLonge back in January, it might have been a repeat of precisely what happened the last time Blink-182 hit a rough patch. Thankfully, there is no need to fear!
It’s official. Travis Barker has confirmed the latest Blink-182 album is slated for a 2016 release.
With a handful of shows already lined up for the summer, we may even see it in the first half of the year. The absence of DeLonge on this record will certainly provide divisive. His replacement? The punk rock aficionado that is Matt Skiba. The Alkaline Trio frontman filled in for DeLonge at a time when Blink-182 still had shows scheduled and legions of loyal fans that would have been otherwise disappointed.
Those who believe DeLonge is the be all and end all of Blink-182 will certainly remain stubborn in their belief that the band simply shouldn’t exist any longer. For those who are more open minded and still harbouring any doubts, a quick listen at any of the eight Alkaline Trio albums or a glance at a recent Blink-182 show will provide all the answers that are required.
Rest assured, this may just be the new direction and attitude that Blink-182 needed.
