Brighton-based alternative pop rock quartet The Gospel Youth released two brand new singles earlier today. Having previously released two EPs in 2015 and played a series of live shows alongside Deaf Havana and Mallory Knox, Resolutions and DST make up the band’s first release of the year, kicking off their 2016 series that will be partly funded by a crowdfunding campaign. Vocalist Sam Little said:
“Resolutions and DST are a lot darker and probably a lot more bitter than anything anyone’s heard from us, but I think it’s the best we’ve ever sounded and we’re so excited to finally release them. We’re trying something a little different in our second year as a band, something that means we’re basically putting our future in the hands of our fans. Even though we’re writing new material all the time, going into a studio and recording a debut album felt like a mountain to climb when we started speaking about it, and we felt that releasing music gradually suits the way we operate as a band – it also means the music gets to mature and grow with us. We wanted to give the people that believe in this as much as we do the opportunity to make a real difference, and we think we’ve put together something that’s totally worth getting involved.”
The music videos for both tracks are available to watch on the band’s YouTube channel now. While Resolutions features a range of studio footage of the band, DST features fans’ messages to their ex-partners in an equally humorous and heartfelt video.
